Your soul is yours...it always was. The only thing that will deny you access to your soul is your own thoughts. You can walk on water, turn water into wine, perform all kinds of miracles if you desire. Your thoughts are the key to the soul. As you think, so shall your reap.

After a long time posting something. One of the reason is Tanveer. Its been a while I spoke to this guy. Today happened to see him in skype. While chatting suddently I remembered that I've not visited my own blog for ages. Anyway these days am quite busy with work, my new gadgets, and having sleep ;) yeah true. Now a days I can sleep for hours without any disturbance. Is it something new skill which I developed (Noo. no SDF funded here).
Anyway the latest news is my Sony W800i. The moment I saw it I dont know but I just bough it. I dont say this is the best phone I ever used ( I still feel Nokia 3310 is the best Mobile Phone I so far used) but it really impressed me with its cute looks and amazing sound quality. So what next. Load it to its full capacity. Within the first one hour the internal memory of ~450MB filled up. Then the time to look for MemoryStick. I've the stick which came with my HandyCam. So just replaced and used it as well.

Flash sucks

since one hour have been trying to isntall flash8.0 as some fucking site requested so. This bloody Flash8 seems it uninstalled my version 7. The worst thing is i dont know the status of installation. good are the old days when you download the installer and runs it locally, so you can see the status. Now the damn site says installing and no error messages at all. I assume it was success but when i tried to view the flash site it doesnt work. the whole process begins again.
This a**holes at Macromedia didnt even provide any support to say is there any issue with IE. All the say is just look at the browser help function.
If MS did the same thing then by this time there would have been tons of mails flying here n there, law suits in US, & forums are filled with all the complaints. But when MacroMedia does this I dont know why nobody bother to respond. I can see the complaints in forums but I dont see any explanation in Macromedia site.
Wish I can just go back to the plain old HTML with PNG,GiF,&jpeg days. Then I dont require to put somuch of money in this damn Hi-End CPU, or memory.

Ancient Indian Aircraft Technology

Many researchers into the UFO enigma tend to overlook a very important fact. While it assumed that most flying saucers are of alien, or perhaps Governmental Military origin, another possible origin of UFOs is ancient India and Atlantis.
What we know about ancient Indian flying vehicles comes from ancient Indian sources; written texts that have come down to us through the centuries. There is no doubt that most of these texts are authentic; many are the well known ancient Indian Epics themselves, and there are literally hundreds of them. Most of them have not even been translated into English yet from the old sanskrit.
The Indian Emperor Ashoka started a "Secret Society of the Nine Unknown Men": great Indian scientists who were supposed to catalogue the many sciences. Ashoka kept their work secret because he was afraid that the advanced science catalogued by these men, culled from ancient Indian sources, would be used for the evil purpose of war, which Ashoka was strongly against, having been converted to Buddhism after defeating a rival army in a bloody battle.
The "Nine Unknown Men" wrote a total of nine books, presumably one each. Book number was "The Secrets of Gravitation!" This book, known to historians, but not actually seen by them dealt chiefly with "gravity control." It is presumably still around somewhere, kept in a secret library in India, Tibet or elsewhere (perhaps even in North America somewhere). One can certainly undertand Ashoka's reasoning for wanting to keep such knowledge a secret, assuming it exists. if the Nazis had such weapons at their disposal during World War Ii. Ashoka was also aware devastating wars using such advanced vehicles and other "futuristic weapons" that had destoryed the ancient Indian "Rama Empire" several thousand years before.
Only a few years ago, the Chinese discovered some sanskrit documents in Lhasa, Tibet and sent them to the University of Chandrigarh to be translated. Dr. Ruth Reyna of the University said recently that the documents contain directions for building interstellar spaceships!
Their method of propulsion, she said, was "anti-gravitational" and was based upon a system analogous to that of "laghima," the unknown power of the ego existing in man's physiological makeup, "a centrifugal force strong enough to counteract all gravitational pull." According to Hindu Yogis, it is this "laghima" which enables a person to levitate.
Dr. Reyna said that on board these machines, which were called "Astras" by the text, the ancient Indians could have sent a detachment of men onto any planet, according to the document, which is thought to be thousands of years old. The manuscripts were also said to reveal the secret of "antima"; "the cap of invisibility" and "garima"; "how to become as heavy as a mountain of lead."
Naturally, Indian scientists did not take the texts very seriously, but then became more positive about the value of them when the Chinese announced that they were including certain parts of the data for study in their space program! This was one of the first instances of a government admitting to be researching anti-gravity.
The manuscripts did not say definitely that interplanetary travel was ever made but did mention, of all things, a planned trip to the Moon, though it is not clear whether this trip was actually carried out. However, one of the great Indian epics, the Ramayana, does have a highly detailed story in it of a trip to the moon in a Vimana (or "Astra"), and in fact details a battle on the moon with an "Asvin" (or Atlantean" airship.
This is but a small bit of recent evidence of anti-gravity and aerospace technology used by Indians. To really understand the technology, we must go much further back in time.
The so-called "Rama Empire" of Northern India and Pakistan developed at least fifteen thousand years ago on the Indian sub-continent and was a nation of many large, sophisticated cities, many of which are still to be found in the deserts of Pakistan, northern, and western India. Rama existed, apparently, parallel to the Atlantean civilization in the mid-Atlantic Ocean, and was ruled by "enlightened Priest-Kings" who governed the cities, The seven greatest capital cities of Rama were known in classical Hindu texts as "The Seven Rishi Cities."
According to ancient Indian texts, the people had flying machines which were called "Vimanas." The ancient Indian epic describes a Vimana as a double-deck, circular aircraft with portholes and a dome, much as we would imagine a flying saucer.
It flew with the "speed of the wind" and gave forth a "melodious sound." There were at least four different types of Vimanas; some saucer shaped, others like long cylinders ("cigar shaped airships"). The ancient Indian texts on Vimanas are so numerous, it would take volumes to relate what they had to say. The ancient Indians, who manufactured these ships themselves, wrote entire flight manuals on the control of the various types of Vimanas, many of which are still in existence, and some have even been translated into English.
The Samara Sutradhara is a scientific treatise dealing with every possible angle of air travel in a Vimana. There are 230 stanzas dealing with the construction, take-off, cruising for thousand of miles, normal and forced landings, and even possible collisions with birds. In 1875, the Vaimanika Sastra, a fourth century B.C. text written by Bharadvajy the Wise, using even older texts as his source, was rediscovered in a temple in India. It dealt with the operation of Vimanas and included information on the steering, precautions for long flights, protection of the airships from storms and lightening and how to switch the drive to "solar energy" from a free energy source which sounds like "anti-gravity."
The Vaimanika Sastra (or Vymaanika-Shaastra) has eight chapters with diagrams, describing three types of aircraft, including apparatuses that could neither catch on fire nor break. It also mentions 31 essential parts of these vehicles and 16 materials from which they are constructed, which absorb light and heat; for which reason they were considered suitable for the construction of Vimanas. This document has been translated into English and is available by writing the publisher: VYMAANIDASHAASTRA AERONAUTICS by Maharishi Bharadwaaja, translated into English and edited, printed and published by Mr. G. R. Josyer, Mysore, India, 1979 (sorry, no street address). Mr. Josyer is the director of the International Academy of Sanskrit Investigation located in Mysore.
There seems to be no doubt that Vimanas were powered by some sort of "anti-gravity." Vimanas took off vertically, and were capable of hovering in the sky, like a modern helicopter or dirigible. Bharadvajy the Wise refers to no less than 70 authorities and 10 experts of air travel in antiquity. These sources are now lost.
Vimanas were kept in a Vimana Griha, a kind of hanger, and were sometimes said to be propelled by a yellowish-white liquid, and sometimes by some sort of mercury compound, though writers seem confused in this matter. It is most likely that the later writers on Vimanas, wrote as observers and from earlier texts, and were understandably confused on the princible of their propulsion. The "yellowishwhite liquid" sounds suspiciously like gasoline, and perhaps Vimanas had a number of different propulsion sources, including combustion engines and even "pulse-jet" engines. It is interesting to note, that the Nazis developed the first practical pulse-jet engines for their V-8 rocket "buzz bombs." Hitler and the Nazi staff were exceptionally interested in ancient India and Tibet and sent expeditions to both these places yearly, starting in the 30's, in order to gather esoteric evidence that they did so, and perhaps it was from these people that the Nazis gained some of their scientific information!
According to the Dronaparva, part of the Mahabarata, and the Ramayana, one Vimana described was shaped like a sphere and born along at great speed on a mighty wind generated by mercury. It moved like a UFO, going up, down, backwards and forewards as the pilot desired. In another Indian source, the Samar, Vimanas were "iron machines, well-knit and smooth, with a charge of mercury that shot out of the back in the form of a roaring flame." Another work called the Samaranganasutradhara describes how the vehicles were constructed. It is possible that mercury did have something to do with the propulsion, or more possibly, with the guidance system. Curiously, Soviet scientists have discovered what they call "age-old instruments used in navigating cosmic vehicles" in caves in Turkestan and the Gobi Desert. The "devices" are hemispherical objects of glass or porcelain, ending in a cone with a drop of mercury inside.
It is evident that ancient Indians flew around in these vehicles, all over Asia, to Atlantis presumably; and even, apparently, to South America. Writing found at Mohenjodaro in Pakistan (presumed to be one of the "Seven Rishi Cities of the Rama Empire") and still undeciphered, has also been found in one other place in the world: Easter Island! Writing on Easter Island, called Rongo-Rongo writing, is also undeciphered, and is uncannily similar to the Mohenjodaro script. Was Easter Island an air base for the Rama Empire's Vimana route? (At the Mohenjo-Daro Vimana-drome, as the passenger walks down the concourse, he hears the sweet, melodic sound of the announcer over the loudspeaker,
"Rama Airways flight number seven for Bali, Easter Island, Nazca, and Atlantis is now ready for boarding. Passengers please proceed to gate number..") in Tibet, no small distance, and speaks of the "fiery chariot" thusly: "Bhima flew along in his car, resplendent as the sun and loud as thunder... The flying chariot shone like a flame in the night sky of summer ... it swept by like a comet... It was as if two suns were shining. Then the chariot rose up and all the heaven brightened."
In the Mahavira of Bhavabhuti, a Jain text of the eighth century culled from older texts and traditions, we read: "An aerial chariot, the Pushpaka, conveys many people to the capital of Ayodhya.
The sky is full of stupendous flying-machines, dark as night, but picked out by lights with a yellowish glare-"
The Vedas, ancient Hindu poems, thought to be the oldest of all the Indian texts, describe Vimanas of various shapes and sizes: the "ahnihotra-vimana" with two engines, the "elephant-vimana" with more engines, and other types named after the kingfisher, ibis and other animals.
Unfortunately, Vimanas, like most scientific discoveries, were ultimately used for war. Atlanteans used their flying machines, "Vailixi," a similar type of aircraft, to literally try and subjugate the world, it would seem, if Indian texts are to be believed. The Atlanteans, known as "Asvins" in the Indian writings, were apparently even more advanced technologically than the Indians, and certainly of a more war-like temperment. Although no ancient texts on Atlantean Vailixi are known to exist, some information has come down through esoteric, "occult" sources which describe their flying machines. Similar, if not identical to Vimanas, Vailixi were generally "cigar shaped" and had the capability of manuvering underwater as well as in the atmosphere or even outer space. Other vehicles, like Vimanas, were saucer shaped, and could apparently also be submerged.
According to Eklal Kueshana, author of "The Ultimate Frontier," in an article he wrote in 1966, Vailixi were first developed in Atlantis 20,000 years ago, and the most common ones are "saucershaped of generally trapezoidal cross-section with three hemispherical engine pods on the underside." "They use a mechanical antigravity device driven by engines developing approximately 80,000 horse power."
The Ramayana, Mahabarata and other texts speak of the hideous war that took place, some ten or twelve thousand years ago between Atlantis and Rama using weapons of destruction that could not be imagined by readers until the second half of this century.
The ancient Mahabharata, one of the sources on Vimanas, goes on to tell the awesome destructiveness of the war: "...(the weapon was) a single projectile charged with all the power of the Universe. An incandescent column of smoke and flame As bright as the thousand suns rose in all its splendor... An iron thunderbolt,
A gigantic messenger of death,
Which reduced to ashes
The entire race of the Vrishnis
And the Andhakas.
... the corpses were so burned
As to be unrecognizable.
The hair and nails fell out;
Pottery broke without apparent cause,
And the birds turned white.
... After a few hours
All foodstuffs were infected...
... to escape from this fire
The soldiers threw themselves in streams
To wash themselves and their equipment..."
It would seem that the Mahabharata is describing an atomic war! References like this one are not isolated; but battles, using a fantastic array of weapons and aerial vehicles are common in all the epic Indian books. One even describes a Vimana-Vailix battle on the Moon! The above section very accurately describes what an atomic explosion would look like and the effects of the radioactivity on the population. Jumping into water is the only respite.
When the Rishi City of Mohenjodaro was excavated by archeologists in the last century, they found skeletons just lying in the streets, some of them holding hands, as if some great doom had suddenly overtaken them. These skeletons are among the most radioactive ever found, on a par with those found at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Ancient cities whose brick and stone walls have literaly been vitrified, that is-fused together, can be found in India, Ireland, Scotland, France, Turkey and other places. There is no logical explanation for the vitrification of stone forts and cities, except from an atomic blast. Futhermore, at Mohenjo-Daro, a well planned city laid on a grid, with a plumbing system superior to those used in Pakistan and India today, the streets were littered with "black lumps of glass." These globs of glass were discovered to be clay pots that had melted under intense heat!
With the cataclysmic sinking of Atlantis and the wiping out of Rama with atomic weapons, the world collapsed into a "stone age" of sorts, and modern history picks up a few thousand years later. Yet, it would seem that not all the Vimanas and Vailixi of Rama and Atlantis were gone. Built to last for thousands of of years, many of them would still be in use, as evidenced by Ashoka's "Nine Unknown Men" and the Lhasa manuscript.
That secret societies or "Brotherhoods" of exceptional, "enlightened" human beings would have preserved these inventions and the knowledge of science, history, etc., does not seem surprising. Many well known historical personages including Jesus, Buddah, Lao Tzu, Confucious, Krishna, Zoroaster, Mahavira, Quetzalcoatl, Akhenaton, Moses, and more recent inventors and of course many other people who will probably remain anonomous, were probably members of such a secret organization.
It is interesting to note that when Alexander the Great invaded India more than two thousand years ago, his historians chronicled that at one point they were attacked by "flying, fiery shields" that dove at his army and frightened the cavalry. These "flying saucers" did not use any atomic bombs or beam weapons on Alexander's army however, perhaps out of benevolence, and Alexander went on to conquer India.
It has been suggested by many writers that these "Brotherhoods" keep some of their Vimanas and Vailixi in secret caverns in Tibet or some other place is Central Asia, and the Lop Nor Desert in western China is known to be the center of a great UFO mystery. Perhaps it is here that many of the airships are still kept, in underground bases much as the Americans, British and Soviets have built around the world in the past few decades.
Still, not all UFO activity can be accounted for by old Vimanas making trips to the Moon for some reason. Undoubtedly, some are from the Military Governments of the world, and possibly even from other planets. Of course, many UFO sightings are "swamp, gas, clouds, hoaxes, and hallucinations, while there is considerable evidence that many UFO sightings, especially "kidnappings" and the like, are the result of what is generally called "telepathic hypnosis." One common thread that often runs between "Alien kidnappings," "sex with aliens," and other "close encounters of a third kind" is a buzzing in the ears just before the encounter. According to many well informed people, this is a sure sign of telepathic hypnosis."

Finally I've finished reading this book "Built to Last" by Jim Collins and Jerri Porras. (Built to last: Succesful habits of visionary companies).
It was really a great experience reading the peoples visions and how the big companies evolved over the time. I dont completely agree with the authors about the Boeing and HP. One more thing is most of the research is done on US based companies. Now we are not US centric. The world became so small that even now we are seeing the takeovers of US companies by Indian companies( I still remember at my prev work place how the people of TYCO used to deal with us. We're their customers but still they used to treat us as we are doing some favour by buying the bandwidth from them). Am very happy when VSNL buy this company.

Anyway coming back to the book, have to thank my superior . Because of him only I got to remember it and finally finished it.
Now time to take a look at Rita.

No electronic devices. Rely on Birds

Singareni Mines. One of the largest Coal fields in the world. The workes were given electronic devices which can detect Carbon Monaxide levels in the deep mines .
However they dont rely on the meters. They do trust small birds which they grew in captive solely for these purposes. While electronic meters can detect CO levels from 1% on wards this small bird ( In local slang these birds are called Canery or Lal Muniya) responds when CO level hits 0.15%. When the CO level reaches 2% it will go unconcious. The workers immed leave the place.
The workers feel its better to rely on birds rather than electronic devices for the accuracy levels and at the same time they feel they have a companion while working.

Few days back I rcvd a complementary gift from this organization for being a member for one year. I was happy to receive this piece A three in one Alarm, Radio cum Torch light. However with in two days it spoiled. I looked for any warranty card, but to my surprise I even dont see any sort of brand name even. I was so disappointed with the club now I am seriously thinking how soon can I cancel the membership. Not because I'vent received a good complimentary gift,(to be frank I least expected n I dont care) but the value they are giving to the customer. If they cant give it I dont mind but when you are giving it should be something coming from the prestigioug club. This piece is representing the club and its a token of appreciation. Now after looking at the quality of the gift which seems to be given just for name sake or for their "records" purposes I lost my confidance that they can deliver quality services to me in the future.
Monday most importantly I have to call these guys to check how can I cancel my subscription.

Today I logged in to Dell indian site to order one PC. But to my amagement I realized that Dell wont do direct selling from its website. : Quite puzzled I called the cust care and I was wished by a cute (ofcourse voice) executive. I was told that due to security reasons and credit card issue they dont sell online. What an absurd reason. I can say credit card theft or crime in India is possibly amongs the lowest in the world. We have such a great pool of IT professionals who does wonders. Still we dont have the online sales by Dell.
Really couldnt understand Dell's stand here. Anyway I endup to visit IBM website and I could see their price and product online. Finally I decided to go for IBM.
One thing I realized after buyin the PC was all these companies just overshoot the customer. I dont need a computer with all the crap mentioned in the spec. I just need a computer for my browsing and occational video chat. Still I end up going for a P4. The price is indeed high but no options.
Letz see how the performance like.

Waiting for the models to hit the market. Really this is what I dont understood. When 3G wasnt launched everybody was talking about it and lot of plans n promo. Now when people started talking about 3G not many models available in the market.
Dont really understand the vendors business plans. Anyway I am considering two models as my 3G phone. Nokia N70 & SE P910.
Personally I am a bit inclined to Nokia but I have to think about the features as well. I guess I've to spend more than 1K. So I am going to wait till the best(atleast better than my first 3G Handset Motorola A1000).

Sometimes I really go mad just thinking over why this happened like this or how could this happen. This thoughts will cause such a headache and pain even if I stay at work I couldnt concentrate. My biggest forte is concentration. At the same time its my weakness. I should concentrate how can I get rid of this weakness. I dont want to think constantly over something which annoys me.
I want to focus on my own self. Today is another day where my productivity was almost dropped by 50%. Only till noon I workred. Then I went downstairs to have my lunch where I saw the worst food ever in my life. I came back with a Coke and started work. But couldnt . Still I am lost why it happens. How can I answer

The "rootkit" piece of XCP software, developed by British applications maker First4Internet and used by Sony BMG to restrict copying and sharing of music CDs, is already highly controversial because it acts like virus software and hides deep inside a computer where it leaves the backdoor open for malicious hackers

Sony BMG earlier this week said it would recall some 4.7 million CDs with the software, after the discovery of the first computer viruses last week that took advantage of the weakness.
The XCP program will installs itself on Windows-operated personal computers when consumers play one of 49 CDs from Sony BMG. The program forces consumers to use a music player that comes with the program.

I heard one person saying about Singapore government and the way they do things. This guy was pointing that BKE (Bukit Timah Expressway) was named wrongly. At first it gave me the same impression but later I realized that even for this also Singapore government/LTA has got a standard.
The standard says that

Singapore's highways are all identified by TLAs (three letter acronyms): ECP, AYE, CTE, PIE, KPE, BKE, SLE, TPE, KJE.
the first letter ----> first letter of the name
Second letter ----> second stressed letter

All the above description could be best suited to a top class MNC or a business entity which specialized in services. People may think all the employees are graduates from world famous B' schools, working with all the facilities and handling the latest gadzets at their disposal.

However the reality is different here.

95% are illiterate
Group consists of 5000 people with an average age of 45 years.
No organized work flow or established procedures.
Transportation is only by means of a cycle or by foot
Charge customer about USD4 per month. ( Service includes every day irrespective of holidays)
Remembers about 35 customers addresses on an average

This is about Mumbai Dabbawala, which literally translates in to "the one who carries a box". Its a century old profession which became integral with Mumbai's culture. Mumbai city is probably the most dense city in India with 19,373 persons/Sq.Km. This city the main transportation is by using the Local trains. Its very common to travel for 2 to 3 hours to reach work place. In this situation for a common employee its tough to go home for lunch or have it at a hotel. So many workers have a cooked meal at home sent by a caterer who delivers it to them at work place.

Collecting the "Dabba" at the workers home and delivering at office place and then transporting the empty dabba to home is the prime job of "Dabbawalas".

In this process there are different "Dabbawals".

Collecting Dabbawala, who travels on a bycycle, collects dabbas from homes. Most dabbas doesnt contain any addresses ( Because most of the Dabbawalas are illiterate), just some color codes or cross marks. Then the dabbawals takes them in to a sorting place where all the "dabbas" are sorted based on the color codes.

This boxes are sent to different places by the local train ( usvally there will be a special car for dabbas alone). Then on the arriving station the boxes are collected by "Local Dabbawala", who delivers them to the offices. The empty boxes after lunch are collected again and sent back to their homes.

On an average each box will change "Four" person hands. Still end of the journey it reaches to the right person hands at the right time.

They are accurate and punctual. Weather it shines or rains ( remember the terrible monsoon seasons in Mumbai) the Dabba reaches to the office at lunch time.

My last trip to India it happened to see these people during working hours. I was really amazed by their work. No management guru or B school can teach us this kind of working harmony and devotion to work. I have got all the best gadzets and facilities to improve my productivity and I often goes to seminors and classes where the professionals try to tell us how to avoid mistakes to do the right work. Still we are prone to errors.

The answer is simple. For them the work is life. Without the money they cant survive. They have to deliver the Dabba. Otherwise they themselves cant have the meal. Sounds a bit sad but at the same time I've learnt something very important.

After a great and memorable holiday came back to Singapore. Seems like I started liking singapore as well. May be have been staying in this place for quite some time. Anyway one good thing is the moment I landed @ Changi, I felt the change. Immed I remembered the pending work and commitments. I am sure the air is filled with these things in Singapore. No wonder people are so hardworking and work oriented.
Came back home and throwed the baggage. This weekend I have to clear the mess otherwise its gonna be tough for me n for the rest to stay with all the unwashed clothes and packages.
Then I have to find some time to edit the videos. Its almost 3 hours, and I have to spend atleast 2 to 3 weekends.

Sony Touch Screen

Sony launched its first ( probably the first product in the Digi Cam world) touch screen camera recently. Looking at this compact yet feature rich ( 8.1 Mega Pixel,3" touch screen, &3X optical zoom) camera I really dont have an idea what will be its fate.

I just have a question, do we need it or its just to show that I can touch and take photographs.

The upside will be defintely the 'touch screen', at least for the enthusiastic. I am sure it makes things much much easier for many who hate to search for the tiny buttons playing hide and seek with the user. Added to that the 8.1 Mega pixel will be something people want to have it for the sake of better quality(?)
The last one and something new is the photo album feautre or software. It turns the camera in to a small photo album. Oh boy I like it.

On the other hand I can dare say that the downside is its touch screen as well. It makes things easier but how many people really go for it. Do you really want to use it ?
How about the sensitivity. Being the user of Sony Camcoder sometimes I feel touch screens are good but it makes things more weird as well. ( Finger prints, dust, n gals pointed nails etc)

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life, says Steve Jobs

Today I want to tell you three stories from my life. That’s it. Just three stories. The first story is about connecting the dots. I dropped out of Reed College after the first 6 months, but then stayed around as a drop-in for another 18 months before I really quit. Looking back, it was one of the best decisions I ever made. I could stop taking the required classes that didn’t interest me, and begin dropping in on the ones that looked interesting. I didn’t have a dorm room, so I slept on the floor in friends’ rooms, I returned Coke bottles for the 5 cent deposits to buy food with, and I would walk seven miles across town every Sunday night to get one good meal a week at the Hare Krishna temple. I loved it. And much of what I stumbled into by following my curiosity and intuition turned out to be priceless later on.

Here’s one example: Reed College offered perhaps the best calligraphy instruction in the country. Because I had dropped out and didn’t have to take the normal classes, I decided to take a calligraphy class. I learned about serif and san serif typefaces, about what makes great typography great. Ten years later, when we were designing the first Macintosh computer, it all came back to me. And we designed it all into the Mac. If I had never dropped in on that course in college, the Mac would have never had multiple typefaces or for that matter even proportionally spaced fonts. And since Windows just copied Mac, it’s likely no personal computer would have them. Of course it was impossible to connect the dots looking forward when I was in college. But it was very clear looking backwards 10 years later.

You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.

My second story is about love and loss. I found what I loved to do early in life. Woz (Steve Wozniak) and I started Apple when I was 20. In 10 years Apple had grown from just the two of us in a garage into a $2-billion company. And then I got fired. It was devastating.But something slowly began to dawn on me — I still loved what I did. And so I decided to start over. The heaviness of being successful was replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again. It freed me to enter one of the most creative periods of my life. During the next five years, I started a company named NeXT, another company named Pixar, and fell in love with an amazing woman who would become my wife. Pixar is now the world’s most successful animation studio. Apple bought NeXT, I retuned to Apple, and the technology we developed at NeXT is at the heart of Apple’s current renaissance. And Laurene and I have a wonderful family together.

Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don’t lose faith. The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle.

My third story is about death. About a year ago I was diagnosed with cancer. My doctor advised me to go home and get my affairs in order, which is doctor’s code for prepare to die. I lived with that diagnosis all day. Later that evening I had a biopsy. It turned out to be a very rare form of pancreatic cancer that is curable with surgery. I had the surgery and I’m fine now.
This was the closest I’ve been to facing death, and I hope its the closest I get for a few more decades. Having lived through it, I can now say this to you: Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become.

When I was young, there was an amazing publication called The Whole Earth Catalogue. In the final issue, on the back cover they put a photograph of an early morning country road. Beneath it were the words: Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish. It was their farewell message as they signed off. I have always wished that for myself. And now, as you graduate to begin anew, I wish that for you. Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.

LAST WEEK, Verso Technologies (www.verso.com) announced the rollout of a "carrier-grade applications filter" that can block so-called bandwidth drains such as Skype, P2P messaging, streaming media, and instant messaging. Skype is singled out in the headline of the press release. It's not a P2P blocker, it's a "Skype Filtering Technology."

Verso CEO Monty Bannerman, founding CTO of the NAP of Americas, says service providers are gung-ho about his new product offering. As a "free" service, Skype is raiding the business model of service providers that want to roll out VoIP services for their customers. "They're all telling me they hate Skype and they're telling me that they want to do something about Skype," said Bannerman in a telephone interview. "If you have something in your network that is costing you money and raiding your business model, I assure you you're going to do something about it."

Bannerman claims that Skype and other P2P applications were generating up to 30 per cent of existing network traffic load as of last year according to presentations at the North American Network Operators Group (NANOG). Since a revenue-based service provider isn't making any money off that traffic load, it's not a good thing, especially if they plan to offer their own flavor of VoIP to their customer base. Since making the announcement, Verso has received a number of phone calls from existing customers as well as intrigued service providers.

I really dont see the reason why to be alarmed unless you are paranoid about all the hoax's. Last time that was a different virus which rode on MMS. Now a new way. Is the AV vendors who are pushing the necessity or is there a need for the mobile anti virus as well. Are they are just trying to encash the fears of the end user?

Last time also F-Secure created a big hoo haa about the news. But nobody (atleast considering the consumers) bothered to give it a try. I know Nokia ships with F-secure trail version in Europe. But how many people are renewing it ?
There may be a need for the mobile AV in the future. But at the moment I trust my mobile phone and I am confidant things are not so bad as the vendors projected.

Google, Microsoft and Yahoo are quietly developing new search tools for digital video, foreshadowing a high-stakes technology arms race in the battle for control of consumers' living rooms.
Google's effort, until now secret, is arguably the most ambitious of the three. According to sources familiar with the plan, the search giant is courting broadcasters and cable networks with a new technology that would do for television what it has already done for the Internet: sort through and reveal needles of video clips from within the haystack archives of major network TV shows.
The interesting part is the discussion about these in Slashdot. Its funny why people say somany things againest MS but most of them are in favour of Google ;)

Finally I am decided to go home next month. Yeah its been a while I havent visited India. If I am correct its more than an year. I am not quite excited to go home but quite happy to see my family. After all these years work and the time I spent with srichakra I realized few many things. May be its late but not too late.
Anyway all that matters the most if the money. I heard lot of people saying (I used to LOL) money cant buy things or there are some things which money cant buy. Crap. Its only that money is not sufficient to buy them .
Last night speaking with Tanveer n he is also going home. But lucky guy, he is taking one month off. I admire the way he maintains his coolness.
Possibly I can meet him if I have got the time to visit Pune. Letz see how it goes.

Green Card Woes.

INDIAN workers, including tech professionals, will now have to wait longer - up to eight years in certain cases — for a Green Card, with the US State Department's latest visa bulletin introducing a waiting period for Green Cards under the employment-based immigrant visa category.

"In the last three to five years, there was no backlog in the employment-based immigration visa category. Now a waiting-period of up to eight years has been introduced in certain categories including EB2 (Professions Holding Advanced Degrees or Persons of Exceptional Ability) and EB3 (skilled workers and professionals)," said Dr Arun C. Vakil, a US Visa and Immigration consultant from Mumbai.

He said the waiting period was triggered off as there was a pent-up demand in the employment based immigration visa category with a lot of pending labour certifications being cleared. "In such cases the process moved onto the next stage involving filing of i140 form for a Green Card. It is a problem of excess demand versus supply," he said.

According to the latest bulletin, cut off dates for India have been fixed at August 2002 for the EB1 category, November 1999 for EB2 category and January 1998 for EB3 category. This means that anyone with a priority date (date of filing) later than this will have to wait until new dates are announced and their priority date becomes active. The worldwide level for annual employment-based preference immigrants is at least 1,40,000.

That was sometime in early 40s when Quit India movement was in heat. The college management was Europeans while the students were Indians. There used to be frequent strife of tongues between the college students and management.

Once Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru came to the college to settle the dispute between students and college management. He was talking on the dais and suddenly noticed Mahatma Gandhi coming towards the meeting.

Nehru was stunned and came down to receive Mahatma Gandhi saying, “Bapuji! You would have intimated me about your arrival”.

Then after a pause the college principal said that he wasn’t Gandhiji but their student. And the student was none other than legendary actor NTR. That was an unforgettable scene in the life of NTR. However Nehru appreciated his make up and performance and also announced a gold medal.

No words while reading the news when a young person mentioned that he could be the Prime Minister of India at the age of 25 if he wished. My heart filled with a sence of frustration and how disgusting it was. That person even cant speak the national language properly, dont know anything about the sub continents culture or rich heritage, not even did his education in India, dont have good friends here, enjoys his holidays with his Morocon girl friend in western parts of the world, enjoys watching soccer and dont know about Cricket(this is just enough to make Indians angry ;). )
His only qualification?.

His sirname is Gandhi. Although there is no relation ship with the Father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi. Already the nation went through the worst and now trying to get back on the track. After the BJP rule which improved the economic conditions a bit now the full credit goes to Mr. Singh who is doing a great job.

Mr.Rahul Gandhi. Son of Mr. Rajiv Gandhi whos a charismatic and young leader wants to be the next PM of India. For what to make the people suffer while you can enjoy the fruits of being a politician or to show to your Girl friend how powerful you are. Plz come out of that comic heroes feeling. You are talking about more than 1 billion people here where more than 300 millions are living under less than $2 per day. Atleast you first try to understand about your own constitution Amedhi. Try to solve the problems there and make it a better place without any power cuts and water problems. Then you can think about yout future ambitions.

Mean while there are somany experienced leaders. Work with them to learn the things. Even a state minister position with Mr. Singh can teach a lot of things. Till that time Save India and dont think about PM post.

The number is the highest ever monthly addition reported by New Delhi-based Bharti, 30.84 percent owned by Singapore Telecommunications Ltd.

Tioman Island

After working continuously for more than an year my body started to show the signs of fatigue and seems like I badly needed a holiday. I planned to go home next month but I couldnt wait one more month. So finally I made a small trip to this beautiful place Tioman Island.

It took about four and half hours by road from Singapore. Unlike the rest of the places or more popular destinations such as KL or Lankawi this place is not well connected( or is it well connected ?). We spent about 14 hours in travelling either by bus or by the ferry.

Apart from all these things there are few things which I cant forget. One if Uncle Wong who's our tour guide. He starts his speak with a small notion n shrugs then starts with a high pitch which will wake up everyone. I still remember the way he keep on mentioning about the toilets @ Mersing ( a town at the east coast) and Tioman Island.

The moment I land up my feet I almost felt like I am at a different place. The air is filled with joy and a kind of tranquility. Really my mind started to relax. The first day almost we're at the resort getting around and watching the scenic tropical forest.

Second day we went to "Salang". This is supposed to be the best beach there and good for Scuba or snorkelling. All of us took the snorkel dived in to the light green water. May be I need quite sometime to explain about the feeling. After a while we returned to the shore to have our lunch.

Second half of the day I gave a very good chance to my friends to be the "heros". :)

It happened to be the wind is really blowing n the water currents is quite rapid. The same time I had leg cramps. I tried for a while and asked our tour guide to help me. The good thing is I was in control. Not paniced or alarmed of something. Seems like now a days I am getting more bolder n brave ;). It happened at Tulai Island. (The water is about 10M deep).

Now the pending thing is to copy the pics and videos from my Sony DCR-PC1000. It's only about two months old and this is its first big n good assignment. I am quite eager to see the results but to be frank dont have the time to copy n edit it..May be the weekend is the right time..

Now started working again... With more energy n refreshing memories....

Moral of the story:- Buy Toyota VIOS as it has only one airbag (for driveronly). The husband sure die and wife gets everything!So, for a husband don't buy a Vios today.... :)

Recently one of my friend purchased a MP3 player. Later when he reached home I could see the excitement in his face. Then he started using it. The first feeling was quite awesome. But I felt so sorry because just within few minuites he relized some flaws there..
Atleast I can say there are few things that a person needs to check before purchasing a MP3 player..

Storage type

Do you need to have tons of songs to carry with you everyday or you just listen to music while travelling in the bus or tube train?. How long you use it is the main factor I feel. If you really are a music buff who listens to the RAP in you toilet then go for a hard disk based MP3 player. (Eg:Ipod, Creative, Iriver). Other wise you can opt for a Flash based player. Now a days you can get a good flash based player quite cheap. My personnel recommendation dont go for anything less than 512 MB..

Brand

I dont have to tell you whats the reason behind Ipod success.. There may be lot of things which contributed to it but I can say the branding of Apple played a good role as well.. If you really wanna look 'cool' I guess the choice is Ipod.. But think over it..

Battery

I feel this is the most important one. If you travel longer hours or drive for hours or prefer to have a player for days then you shall look for the bettery life more than 18 hours. Traditional flash players work more than the Hard disk based players. But you need to asses it on your own..

Here another point to remember; weather the betteries are removable or not. This will come handy if you are going on a long trip. so remember the recharge time, battery life,removable or nonremovable; (if there is a USB recharge type its better)

Headphones/earphones

One of the earphone came with a popular brand flash based player is only 4 ft long. :) Look for a good headphones if you tend to use it for longer hours..in any case dont go for any piece with less than 80dB SNR & the powet atleast 10mW..

Music Formats

Which formats does the MP3 players support. Is it only MP3 or does it support wma, aac & any other..

Look for FM tuner & Recorder if you want to listen to

Worth all the waiting.. Google launched its IM application Google Talk. The first look was "quite okie".. It's based on the open Jabber protocol with VoIP thrown for good measure as well..If you ask me about the best part I liked about Talk is its VoIP.. Its a full fledged client with very High quality features.. Another 'plus' point is "No Ads" on its features..

If we go to a bit detail, the download is quite small compared to other IM's clints. Its about 0.9 MB size which can download in less than a minute using most of the internet connections..

And the configuration ? nothing much do to...most of the settings work by default..No need to check the proxy connections and all....its fine..

Its fully integrated with Gmail (Similar to MSN & Yahoo)..and there will be a popup window on the right hand side bottom when the user gets a mail...

Most of the features are quite common...

Now I am quite curious to see how this turns out.. How many people will switch to google now from MSN & Yahoo.. (I still stick to MSN because most of my old time contacts are still using it for the last 6 years)..

May be the youngsters and students will be the first to pick it up.. then comes the masses..

Scientists at the Rocket launching station in Thumba, were in the habit of working for nearly 12 to 18 hours a day. There were about seventy such scientists working on a project. All the scientists were really frustrated due to the pressure of work and the demands of their boss but everyone was loyal to him and did not think of quitting the job.

One day, one scientist came to his boss and told him - Sir, I have promised to my children that I will take them to the exhibition going on in our township. So I want to leave the office at 5 30 pm. His boss replied - O K, You are permitted to leave the office early today.

The Scientist started working. He continued his work after lunch. As usual he got involved to such an extent that he looked at his watch when he felt he was close to completion. The time was 8.30 p.m suddenly he remembered of the promise he had given to his children. He looked for his boss, He was not there. Having told him in the morning itself, he closed everything and left for home. Deep within himself, he was feeling guilty for having disappointed his children.

He reached home. Children were not there. His wife alone was sitting in the hall and reading magazines. The situation was explosive, any talk would boomerang on him.

His wife asked him - Would you like to have coffee or shall I straight away serve dinner if you are hungry. The man replied - If you would like to have coffee, I too will have but what about Children???

Wife replied- You don't know - Your manager came at 5 15 p.m and has taken the children to the exhibition.

What had really happened was The boss who granted him permission was observing him working seriously at 5.00 p.m.

He thought to himself, this person will not leave the work, but if he has promised his children they should enjoy the visit to exhibition. So he took the lead in taking them to exhibition The boss does not have to do it every time.

But once it is done, loyalty is established. That is why all the scientists at Thumba continued to work under their boss even though the stress was tremendous. By the way , can you hazard a guess as to who the boss was?

He was A P J Abdul Kalam.

Mrs Tan Gu Gu, a local shopper in Hong Kan GRC has emerged the winner for waiting for the longest time for an SBS bus at a local bus-stop.

She had waited for 8 hours, 43 minutes and 37 seconds before she got onto her bus.Here is an account from her on that day, 22nd September 2003:"Aiyoh, SBS bus always like that one leh, no come ah, all no come! One come, three, four come leh. Der weather hot mah, so I sit under shelter at the bus-stop lor. The stupid bus hor, all air-con pecah one. Becos I tak boleh tahan the heat, so I don't wan’ to take the first bus lor. Den I wait and wait hor, the aircon bus never come leh. But den hor, got like 2 non-aircon bus pass by mah, den I very angry lor, so I call SBS complain lah. Eventually when the aircon bus got come lor, but three of them together come. SBSservice lagi lousy, pay so much busfare but still got so many non-aircon feeder bus one."

Mrs Tan Gu Gu is also the proud achiever and record holder of waiting for the longest time to get a Hello Kitty from the local MacDonald's.

Mr Guey Bo Liao, 27 years old, dialled emergency numbers for an impressive total of 6,317,385 for 24 years. He dialled the number almost every minute and he seemed proud that he dared to do that.

Mdm Boh Eng, his mother, a widow, told us that her boy picked up the habit when she was three while she was busy working."When I was young, my friend say press 995 and 999 got funny tones, so I try, lor, den hor, very funny leh, they ask me who I am, where I am living, like that lor,"

Mr Guey informed our reporters."The telephone operators now all know my name sia. So I called them almost every minute, lor. They quite friendly, always ask my name, where I am," Mr Guey Bo Liao told us.

MSG Thia Dian Wei, a telephone operator supervisor for Civil Defence told us that he had been receiving unneccessary calls made by Mr Guey Bo Liao since 1994."I was a corporal back then when Mr Guey called. I can still remember our conversation. He said he was bored so he call us lor. At that time, I was pissed with him, but now after so many years, I'm kind of numb to his prank calls. In fact, we had a system installed toredirect him to our voice message machine. So he thinks it's quite amusing that it's always the same operator saying the same things," said MSG Thia Dian Wei.

Although the police had confirmed with us that Mr Guey Bo Liao had called and also given us the statistics, they told us that they will not make any comments and will give us a report on the incident.

On second place for the most number of emergency calls was made by Mr Jin Kia See who made a total of 4,609,218 emergency calls to Hospitals, 995, Civil Defence, Fire Stations, Police Stations, 999, SAF.

In the gravityplane, highly compressed air is the fuel providing all the plane's energy needs not met by gravity. Thus not only does the gravityplane fly through the air like a conventional plane, it also gulps in and captures huge volumes of the air. The plane will use high-pressure compressed air to drive its internal system of pumps and pipes, generate electricity, and power two outboard turbines (used for vertical propulsion at takeoff and landing and controlling the plane's direction).

Now, call US & Canada at Rs 3/minute

Mumbai - In A fresh round of price cuts, Airtel, the mobile brand of Bharti Tele-Ventures (BTVL), has slashed ISD rates to Rs 3 per minute from the current levels of Rs 15 per minute for new subscribers.

These rates are applicable for ISD calls to USA and Canada only and will be available to both new post-paid and pre-paid subscribers. The new rates are for Mumbai subscribers only.

With this price drop, Airtel probably hopes to attract new subscribers. Price has ceased to be a differentiator as rival telcos soon match the new rates.

With this rate, Airtel barely covers the access deficit charge (ADC) of Rs 2.50. The ADC is a charge payable to public sector telcos like Bharat Sanchar Nigam primarily so as to help them cover losses incurred in providing subsidised calls to rural areas. Airtel is the fourth largest mobile operator in Mumbai with a subscriber base of over 8 lakh.

Bangladesh hit by multiple bombs.

More than 100 small bombs shook Bangladesh yesterday, the near-simultaneous attacks killing two people, injuring at least 125 and sparking widespread panic.

Police arrested about 50 people in connection with the bombings, which affected nearly every big town across the country, the state-run news agency, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, reported.

I really dont know what these bastards are trying to achive by killing innocent people..Atleast the governments should wake up now and take whatever necessary actions to control the Home grown millitants.. All the while they never felt the pain when these so called "Mujahedin" organizations killing innocent people in their neighbouring countries.. Need to share that I am not a person sits @ "upstairs"...But still these days when I look in to the resumes I always get an impression that people are getting quite lazy. This peace of paper is going to decide weather the person get the interview call or not. Is it that people cant understand the importance of the Resume or just ignore that...Some of the most common mistakes I observed are

1. The size of the resume

Just a couple of days back I received a resume which is just less than 11 pages. The sender happens to be one my friends brother requesting me to have a look at the resume and comment on it...Really donno what to do...The worst thing is he is having only 1 year experience. In order to "show" that he is quite capable of doing many things he tried to squeeze all the things on the earth.. This is one of the major mistake people do (Even I did the same thing. It was pointed out by my cousin Sarath Chandra who just told me that with this resume I cant even get a call)

Just keep it SIMPLE.. May be the idle size is about "2" pages. If you are really a great achiever then may be an additional page to explain about it..

2. Focusing on applicant rather than the requirements.

One important thing and (If u just think for a while you tend to agree) the stupid mistake is "Talking about ourselves; No company or no one wants to contribute to your dreams and hopes. There is a problem; that's why they are hiring you. Not because you want to "Excel in Information Technology Filed"; or "Want a challenging career in marketing filed"; "want to work with a MNC like your esteemed organization(Yes. Our HR team burst in to laughs when they saw this resume);

Avoid all these silly "summary's or objectives". Any employer just ask a single question " What you can do for me". Try to answer this question and put it in the resume .

3. Focusing on the results you have achieved instead of boasting what you are responsible for

Many resumes claim that the person successfully managed "10 people" ;responsible for maintains the "Data Center"; or "responsible for all the network". No body is interested what you were doing. But they are interested in what you have achieved.

Some thing like "Worked with 10 people to deliver the Product in less than the targeted date & with 10% less budget"; or maintained the data center with 99.99% uptime; etc....

4. irrelevant details

Plz friends...The guys up there are not interested weather your father is a farmer or doctor( Unless he is a CEO of a Public Sector company which will be giving a contract to this employer)..Some of the resumes even carrys what is your star sign or height(unless if its some security job) or bloodgroup.

My last company received a resume where the candidate mentioned under Extra Qualifications(He applied for a Cust Care Officer) is "Can surf Internet; My fav websites" Yahoo, MSN.

Just dont put any thing which is not relevant to the job. This can save the valuable space on the resume.

5. Content order ,Spelling mistakes or grammar mistakes

Most people start the resume in chronological order which is appropriate. But the mistake people make is they put it in the opposite direction. For example if a person starts working in 2000 then switched to another company in 2002 n then another change in 2005, it should be from the recent to the prev ones. Not like 2000 , then 2002 and 2005.

Every one knows how stupid if the resume contains full of typos or grammar mistakes. Regular speak we tend to give room for convenience but when we are applying for a job just be cautious.

So I just did me some talking to the sun. And I said I didn't like the
way, he got things done... sleeping on the job... those raindrops are

But there's one thing I know: The blues they send to meet me won't
defeat me. It won't be long till happiness sleps up to greet me.

Raindrops keep falling on my head but that doesn't mean my eyes will
soon be turning red. Crying's not for me cause I'm never gonna stop

Really this morning I was just walking to office when the rain started...I was just walking without bothering about it..I do carry an umbrella (Singapore is quite unpredictable) but not really wanted to open it...a bit lazy and a bit enjoying the rain at the same time...

There was a song by Chris De Burgh "Crying in the rain"...I used to hear the song many times..Not because of something else(this explanation is for you tanveer) but the way it's written touched me...But not any more...These songs or melodies cant move me now a days..may be is it I am more matured emotionally or I am just numb to all these things ..donno but life is much better these days...Its tough;stressfull; routine;
But I am enjoying every bit of it to the fullest...Having a really great time...may be the saying my the great people is true...everything is in your mind....

Prof: So what is the point you are making, young man?
Student : Sir, my point is your philosophical premise is flawed.
Prof: Flawed? Can you explain how?
Student : Sir, you are working on the premise of duality. You argue there is life and then there is death, a good God and a bad God. You are viewing the concept of God as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, science can't even explain a thought. It uses electricity and magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one. To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing. Death is not the opposite of life: just the absence of it. Now tell me, Professor. Do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey?
Prof: If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, yes, of course, I do.
Student : Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir? (The Professor shakes his head with a smile, beginning to realize where the argument is going.)
Student : Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavour, are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you not a scientist but a preacher? (The class is in uproar.)
Student : Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the Professor's brain? (The class breaks out into laughter.)
Student : Is there anyone here who has ever heard the Professor's brain, felt it, touched or smelt it?.....No one appears to have done so. So, according to the established rules of empirical, stable, demonstrable protocol, science says that you have no brain, sir. With all due respect, sir, how do we then trust your lectures, sir? 1 in 25 children UK fathers are raising are not their own

Happened to see a news printed in Yahoo News. The first reaction from me was just "what sl**s..(dont mind the language)...

British researchers say genetic testing is informing about 4 percent of fathers that a child they are raising is not their own.

But one thing came to my stupid mind lately..If everyone realizes that the "kid" they are raising is not theirs, I cant really imagine the implications. No time all the relations will get spoiled n there wont be any place for Trust...The male will be living with a sense of rejection n betrayal..huhh...cant imagine really...There is some thing I saw in the same article.
"New knowledge means new power, but not necessarily the power to use it correctly,"

I dont know weather finding who is the real father is right or wrong. But for me its more like even if you know that its a lie some times living with a lie is much more happier than knowing the truth...

Time to do the annual target settings exercise in part of HR .. Sure I hate to do all this but I need to do this to get a promotion (not so lucky to be a manager like in Dilberts series) or get some good bonus next year...
So now sitting and working what kind of strategy I do have to elevate my comapny..First I need to work on my own strategy to elevate my self and get more benefits..;D

Khar beggar earns Rs 1,000 per day

Sambhaji Kale and his family of four beg for a living — and at the end of the day make a cool Rs 1,000. And when days are bad, they always have the Rs 40,000 stacked in the bank, a few thousand rupees in investment companies, a flat in Virar and two houses and a plot of land in Solapur, to fall back on.

Begging is a profitable venture in Mumbai, according to a survey carried out recently by the Social Development Centre with the help of Dr Chandrakant Puri, assistant director, Distance Education, SNDT.

Of the one lakh beggars in Mumbai, Sambhaji Kale is one of the richest, the survey has identified.

“The Kales do not like to admit they are beggars. That goes for most beggars. They like to think they earn their living working,” said Karande.

The Kales are quite a known family in and around Khar. Letters and other correspondence from the banks reaches them properly even though they hardly have an address. “That is because we have a clean reputation and never get into trouble with police,” said Sambhaji.

Karande is trying to get Kale’s children into a school that he is running primarily for beggar children at Khar. “We need to educate them, but it is a difficult task because the Kale couple hardly begs these days.

They depend on their children to get in the money,” said Karande.

On 9 August 1965, Singapore became an independent and sovereign nation. Suddenly, we were on our own, with no natural resources to exploit, no hinterland to fall back upon, and no army to defend ourselves. But we were determined to survive, and started building a nation from scratch. We worked hard to improve our lives, and create a future for our children. Today, we have every reason to rejoice.

In 40 years, we have succeeded beyond all expectations. Our economy has developed and prospered. After each downturn we have bounced back, to create more jobs and a better life for all. Our society is harmonious and cohesive. We have built mutual trust between different communities, and drawn all Singaporeans closer to one another. We are attracting investments and talent from around the world, to live in a safe, clean, and dynamic city. The SAF and our Home Team are strong and tested. Because of them, we can sleep peacefully at night. We are deepening our sense of shared destiny, and maturing as a nation.

Despite many years of peace, we must remain vigilant against threats to our security. The bombings in London and in Egypt remind us that the war on terror continues, and despite the tightest precautions, the terrorists sometimes get through. We must be psychologically prepared for this, so that if they ever strike here we will be resolute and indomitable, refusing to be cowed by the terrorists and staying one united people.

This year, our economy continues to grow steadily. Growth in the first half was 4.0%. For the whole year, we can expect growth to be between 3.5% and 4.5%. We added 45,500 jobs in the first half, many more than in the same period last year. This has made it easier for displaced workers to find new jobs. Our efforts to re-design and re-create jobs for older, less-skilled workers have also helped. Looking ahead, we face a totally different world.

China and India are emerging as strong, competitive economies. Globalisation is intensifying competition and speeding up the pace of change. Faced with these common challenges, the countries of ASEAN are working more closely together. We will form an ASEAN Community by 2020. In fact, today, August 8, is ASEAN Day. Together with our ASEAN partners, we will raise awareness of ASEAN among our citizens. Greater ASEAN integration will help us to tackle these challenges and seize the opportunities before us.

Singapore’s strong fundamentals enable us to face the future with confidence. Our main priority is to grow and upgrade the economy. We need to develop new skills and capabilities, open new markets abroad, bring in investments and seed new areas of growth.

We did not start off as a financial centre, an electronics manufacturing base or an air and sea hub, but we made ourselves all these. We cannot stop here; we must continue to reinvent ourselves and build new competencies, as we are doing in bio-technology and multi-media. We must also continue growing our external wing, and seek opportunities in ASEAN, China, India and the Middle East. Then we will create new jobs, and more than make up for the old jobs that are phasing out. To achieve all these we must equip ourselves with the right skills and attitudes to thrive in the face of uncertainty and change. Hence our emphasis on a first class education system.

Every Singaporean and not just a select few must receive the best education that he is capable of. So we are investingence heavily in polytechnics and ITEs, and not just in universities. We are paying attention to Normal stream students, and not just those in the Express and Special streams. We are emphasising lifelong learning, and not just pre-employment education.

We also need to remake our city, so that it is vibrant, cosmopolitan and throbbing with energy, with our own distinctive X-factor that makes us stand out from other cities. Global cities like London, Paris, New York and Shanghai are continuously re-making themselves, so all the more must we. This is the deeper reason, beyond attracting tourists, why we are developing integrated resorts. Last month, the International Olympic Committee met in Singapore, to choose the city for the 2012 Olympic Games. Eventually London won. For a few days, under the international spotlight, Singapore played the gracious host. We did well, and must do even better on future occasions, for example next year, when the IMF and World Bank hold their meetings here. This is part of our transformation into a leading city, a first class environment for talent and enterprise, and a home for Singaporeans of all races and faiths.

Economic growth is the best social welfare programme. Prosperity provides us the resources to tackle many difficult challenges. One challenge is the widening income gap. We cannot reverse this worldwide trend, but we can help lower income Singaporeans to keep up and find new opportunities. We are training them in useful skills, re-designing their jobs to pay better, educating their children well, and helping them with their utilities and transport bills. And we have the ComCare fund, which helps the needy to get back quickly on their feet again. A second challenge is our aging population.

Singaporeans must keep active, stay healthy and work for as long as possible, so that as they age they can enjoy financial security, afford good medical care, and live more fulfilling lives. Senior citizens are valued members of our society, and we must tap their collective experience and wisdom. Third, we must continue to look after the health of all Singaporeans, young and old. I know many of you worry about your medical expenses. But our healthcare system delivers a high standard of care for all. We will strive to make healthcare services more affordable for all income groups. But you must do your part too, to look after yourself and keep fit and healthy, because staying well is the best way to keep medical costs down. These are hard issues with no quick and easy solutions. But we will learn from the experience of other countries and avoid their mistakes, and I believe that we can manage these challenges.

Looking ahead, the signs are favourable. Asia is prospering, and our neighbours in ASEAN are doing well. We are doing the right things, investing in our people and gearing up to live in a different world. I expect the next five years to be better than the last five. Therefore I am confident that working together, we will make Singapore grow and prosper beyond what we have today.

On this 40th anniversary of our independence, I wish all Singaporeans a happy National Day. Let us dedicate ourselves anew, as one united people, to securing this bright and enduring future for Singapore.
